How do credits work?

Anything that calls an AI model, such as chat, literature search, paper analysis and writing reviews, deducts credits based on actual usage, which depends on the model, paper length and conversation depth. As a reference, one paper-reading turn uses about 15 credits and a multi-paper literature review about 1,500 credits. Daily credits are used before monthly ones, and with proactive workspace mode on, background tasks also use credits.

Do credits expire? Do unused credits roll over?

Yes, and validity depends on the source. Monthly credits are valid only within the billing cycle they are issued for: anything unused when that cycle ends expires and does not roll over to the next cycle. Daily credits are valid only for that day and don't accumulate. Welcome credits are valid for 14 days from email verification. The Subscription tab in your account center shows how many credits expire and when.

How do literature and paper quotas work?

The "Literature & papers" rows in the comparison table are weekly limits, counted separately from credits and reset once a week. They cap how many searches you can run each week and how many papers can have their original text read, analyzed and translated. Papers count once per week however often you process them, and opening content that's already been generated doesn't count. Once a quota is used up you'll need to wait for the next weekly reset, even with credits left; upgrading raises these limits.

What do papers in parallel and queue priority mean?

Batch reading, cross-paper comparison and literature reviews hand each paper to a subtask. Your plan sets how many papers are processed at the same time; additional papers wait in the queue and start automatically in order, so nothing fails for going over. Queue priority only matters when the platform is busy: plans with higher priority get a larger share of processing capacity first. Subtasks use credits for actual usage like any other AI operation, with no separate fee.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Any AI call already in progress finishes normally. After that, features that need credits pause until your daily credits refresh or you upgrade. Your saved papers, notes, reports and collections are unaffected and stay available.

How do I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Upgrade on the Subscription tab in your account center. Upgrades take effect immediately: the unused value of what you've already paid for the current period is credited toward the new plan, a new billing period starts on the day you upgrade, and the new plan's credits are issued right away. Online downgrades aren't available yet: you can stop automatic renewal and choose another plan after your current period ends, or contact us. Plans bought once with WeChat Pay can't be changed mid-period; choose a new plan when the current one ends. Some changes may be unavailable close to renewal; you can make them after it renews.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel renewal in the Subscription tab of your account center at any time. Your current paid period stays active with full benefits until it ends, and the next period won't be charged. Afterwards your account returns to the Free plan and your saved content is kept. You can turn auto-renewal back on whenever you like.

Can I get a refund?

Stopping auto-renewal is not a refund: your current period stays active, and the unused remainder isn't refunded pro rata. Because every AI call has a real model cost, used credits aren't refunded either. For duplicate or incorrect charges, unauthorized payments, paid features that are defective or not as described, or technical issues that prevent use, you can request a refund within 120 days of payment: within 14 days you can submit it yourself in Waffo's customer portal (pancake.waffo.ai), and at any time you can open a ticket in your account center or email us. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method: WeChat Pay instantly; cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay usually within 3–10 business days and no later than 14.

Which payment methods are supported?

Paid plans are priced in USD. Paying by card (such as Visa or Mastercard), Apple Pay or Google Pay renews automatically every month. You can also pay once with WeChat Pay for a single month, which won't auto-charge at expiry; the CNY amount is converted by the payment provider and shown at checkout.

Is payment secure? Who processes my payment?

All payments are processed by Waffo, our payment provider. Waffo acts as the Merchant of Record, handling payment collection, fraud prevention and tax compliance across regions. Card numbers and other payment details go directly to Waffo; Parallax never sees or stores them.

Do prices include tax? Can I get an invoice?

Listed prices exclude tax. Any applicable tax, such as VAT or sales tax, is calculated by Waffo based on your location and shown at checkout before you confirm. After each payment, your invoice is included in the order confirmation email; to add a company name or tax ID, click Edit Details on the invoice page. You can also see your payment history in the Subscription tab of your account center.
